Cincinnati police: Pedestrian struck, seriously injured on I-471
He was struck around 10:40 p.m. at the 5.3 mile marker, according to police.
A 27-year-old woman was driving north on I-471 when a pedestrian attempted to cross the highway, crossed into the path of Stevens vehicle and was struck.
The pedestrian sustained life threatening injuries and was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Police are not releasing his name but say that he is in critical condition.
The interstate was closed for several hours. All lanes reopened about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The driver sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash. She was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where she is being treated.
Cincinnati police identified the woman as Paula Medel, 82.
Officials said Rafael Medel, 83, was backing out of a driveway at home on the 900 block Olive Avenue in a 2000 Ford Ranger right before the crash.
Paula Medel was on the sidewalk when she was struck by the Ford Ranger, according to investigators.
Police said she sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash and was transported the University of Cincinnati Hospital Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Police said Rafael Medel was wearing a seatbelt and excessive speed or impairment do not appear to be factors in the crash.

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - A woman was killed after a car hit her while backing out of a driveway in East Price Hill Saturday afternoon.
According to CPD, around 2:40 p.m. Paula Medel, 82, was on the sidewalk in the 900 block of Olive Ave when she was struck by a truck driven by 83-year-old Rafael Medel, who was backing out of his driveway.

CINCINNATI (FOX19) -A motorcyclist died Sunday in Bond Hill after losing control of his vehicle, police said.
Officers say they were dispatched to the 1900 block of Langdon Farm Road around 1:50 a.m. and found a 45-year-old man dead at the scene.
The man was riding a 2006 Suzuki Burgman 400 motorcycle West on Langdon Farm Road when he lost control of the motorcycle.
Officers say he went off the right side of the road, hit a curb and then a tree.
