CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Over 10,000 counterfeit surgical masks from China were seized in Cincinnati just before Christmas.
According to Customs and Border Patrol, officers inspected a shipment containing 21 boxes labeled as 3M Mask Modle 1860.
CBP says officers noted the information provided with the shipment did not meet the requirements for authentication.
The boxes were labeled as made in the US; however, CBP says they were being imported from a consumer electronics company in Shenzhen, China.

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Over $9 million in fake jewelry was seized in Cincinnati last week, federal officials announced Wednesday.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers say $9.6 in counterfeit baubles and watches were found in two shipments from China.
The first one originated from Shenzen and was destined to a private residence in Norcross, Georgia, federal officials said in a news release.
Although it had a declared value of $315, the package held 171 items of jewelry or watches labeled as Versace, Michael Kors, Cartier, Salvatore Ferragamo, Dior, Tiffany, Bulgari, Armani, Hugo Boss, Burberry, Hublot, Patek Phillippe, Audemars Piguet, Louis Vuitton, Fossil, Omega, or Rolex.
The labels on the 38 boxes in Cincinnati said they contained made-in-the-USA 3M Disposable Respirators Model 8210 N95 masks, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said. Destination of the 6,080 masks, stopped on Dec. 6: Jamaica.
But made-in-America products shouldnât need to get to Jamaica via a freight forwarder in Hong Kong. Also, Customs said, the shipmentâs paperwork didnât come up to snuff with the 3M Safe Guard product authentication.
After further investigation, it was determined these masks were fakes from China. Customs said real masks would have been worth $6,688 or $1.10 per respirator. According to 3M, the masks should be used by those working in construction, the food industry and mining.
