With Bellator continuing to add prospects and free-agent talent to their roster, several fighters are no longer with the promotion.
Promotion officials confirmed to MMA Fighting that Bellator has parted ways with 15 fighters, 12 of which are part of Bellator’s European series following an initial report from MMA Junkie.
The promotion did not give specifics as to why the athletes are no longer under contract.
Among the names on the list is Zach Freeman, who hasn’t competed in nearly four years. Freeman made a big splash in his Bellator debut when he faced highly touted prospect Aaron Pico in the latter’s highly anticipated MMA debut. Despite being nearly a 4 to 1 underdog, Freeman soured Pico’s debut with a 24-second submission win at Bellator NYC in June 2017. The now 37-year-old would compete five months later in what appears to be in his final bout, a first-round KO loss to Saad Awad at Bellat
