Hasidic boys choir sings tribute to Donald Trump

(JTA) Even without hearing the words, the pictures that animate the “Appreciation Song for President Trump” sung by a group of Hasidic boys clearly spell out the reasons for their appreciation for Donald Trump.
“With devotion so strong, you lead us like you know how,” they sing as a photo of Sholom Rubashkin, the former meat processing plant owner whose 27-year prison sentence Trump commuted in December 2017 appears on the screen.
“The economy is growing like never before,” they sing against the backdrop of a stock ticker.
“The peace that you bring, freedom back to its co.

Zalman Zirkind, a Chassidic Jew, is scheduled to be sentenced in U.S. District Court, in New York, for having pleaded guilty to laundering drug money. He faces a possible 11 to 14 years in jail.
As reported by The New York Jewish Week (January 15, 2021) his supporters “have submitted letters testifying to his character and asking for a lenient sentence”.

Donald Trump used his final hours as president to issue a slew of 143 pardons and commutations of sentence to friends and allies as he prepared to reluctantly hand over power to his Democratic successor Joe Biden.
A meeting with his inner circle at the White House on Sunday saw Mr Trump finalise the clemency list, a source told CNN.

JTA Advocates for improving secular studies in Hasidic yeshivas are getting an assist from an unlikely place: the federal case of a Hasidic man who has pleaded guilty to laundering drug money.
Zalman Zirkind of Montreal, but currently on house arrest in Brooklyn, is due to be sentenced Friday in US District Court in New York. Last summer he pleaded guilty to charges that carry a possible sentence of 11 to 14 years in prison.
