The cold shoulder: Winter weather and COVID-19 challenge local restaurants
Sirloin Stockade and the Garage Pub and Gill are the two closing temporarily.
Sirloin Stockade owner Peter Jurrema said that his restaurant closed Dec. 1. The restaurant posted on social media that it would be closed until spring, though Jurrema said that the reopening date will depend on certain factors.
“A lot has to happen,” he said. “For starters, the virus needs to be tamped down or lessened.”

The association comprises more than 170 Irish and Celtic festivals from across the U.S. and Canada that incorporate Irish culture, music, education, food and dance. There will be more than 25 festivals taking part.
“This will be a beautiful concert even if people have to celebrate the holidays in a different way this year,” said Squirrel Hill native Mairin Petrone, executive director of the Pittsburgh Irish Festival, who reached out to the association about collaborating on a virtual event. “The pandemic has been devastating, but this concert will allow us to reach beyond our wildest dreams and connect people from Ireland with other festivals around the world.”

Irish Cheer offered in virtual holiday concert

LA CROSSE, Wis. - (WXOW) - In a year of virtual music offerings, a special Irish concert is available to La Crosse residents for free. On Wednesday at 7 p.m., Irishfest La Crosse has joined with other Irish organizations to help bring a free holiday concert. Even the Irish Embassy to the United States is participating, said Irishfest La Crosse member Kathleen Ryan. It was a great, great help to us, and now we have seven bands, all from Ireland, playing.
Those area residents who have attended La Crosse s Irishfest will be quick to remember some of the bands, as they ve played here before. The lineup includes Dervish, Shane Hennessy and We Banjo 3.
