ARLINGTON, Va., April 12, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Today, the Project on Fair Representation (POFR) released a White Paper urging states and sub-jurisdictions to use citizen voting age population rather than total population as the metric for redistricting U.S. election districts. MEMPHIS, Tenn. An arrest warrant has been issued for an accused Mid-South wedding crasher.
The warrant has been issued for Sandra Henson for grand larceny in Marshall County, Mississippi. Henson is accused of stealing cash and gifts when she crashed a wedding in Byhalia last month.
Henson has previously been accused and convicted of stealing from newlyweds across our area, but this latest charge could land her in prison -because she is currently on probation.

The Shelby County State s Attorney was asked during the last county board meeting if the board had the power to finance the farming operation. Her response was common for a criminal prosecutor rather than a well-versed local government law attorney. We say common because, in the criminal side of legal matters, prosecutors deal with very specific criminal statutes that are commonly viewed in isolation from other statutes, unlike local government law where statutes must be read in harmony with many other powers granted to the government.

The State s Attorney responded that she believes the county can finance the operation of the farm by pointing to the power to contract. The fact a county can enter into contracts misses the mark as you cannot read one statute in isolation from all the others, unlike the criminal code. While we agree the county has contracting authority, even that power is limited as we point out below.

SHELBY CO., Tenn. (WMC) - The Shelby Co. Health Department has reported 106 new COVID-19 cases and two new deaths. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 80,055 coronavirus cases have been reported and 1,529 deaths. There are currently 1,151 active COVID-19 cases in Shelby County.
More than 1 million people have been tested for coronavirus countywide.
The health department has also been monitoring COVID-19 cases surrounding Shelby County.
