The Browns added depth to their defensive tackle room by drafting Ohio State s Tommy Togiai in the fourth round (132nd overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Here are five things to know about the newest addition to the D-Line.
1. Togiai comes to Cleveland after spending three seasons in Columbus. He was a one-year starter at Ohio State but saw action in 33 games across three seasons. He impressed in 2020 and recorded 23 tackles, 4.5 tackles for a loss and three sacks in seven games en route to earning Second Team All-Big Ten honors.
2. Togiai, a native of Pocatello, Idaho, was heralded as one of the best high school recruits in the history of the state. He was the 2017 Gatorade Idaho Player of the Year, four-star recruit and No. 3 tackle prospect of the high school class. He received heavy interest from just about every school in the Pac-12 but ultimately settled with Ohio State and saw immediate action as a true freshman, recording 10 tackles and two tackles fo

EVP of Football Operations and GM Andrew Berry on Friday conducted his final press conference before the Browns are on the clock with the No. 26 pick.
Here were the five biggest news items to come from the thorough question-and-answer session.
1) Browns focused on longest-term impact, not instant gratification
Berry made it clear the Browns view their draft picks as long-term investments, not bandages.
That was driven home on multiple occasions throughout Friday s press conference, as Berry stressed the Browns are looking for players who can help the team in the long-term rather than focusing on the instant gratification of filling a current need.

One year ago from Friday, the Browns new regime of Executive Vice President of Football Operations and GM Andrew Berry and head coach Kevin Stefanski began their first NFL draft by selecting Jedrick Wills Jr., an offensive tackle from Alabama, with the 10th overall pick.
Wills selection proved solid in 2020, but so did the other six players the Browns selected after him. The success of the class was one of many reasons why Cleveland snapped an 18-year playoff drought, and each player now has a realistic opportunity to carve a bigger, more prominent role on the roster in 2021.
As we continue to look ahead to next week s 2021 draft, we re taking a look back at the remarkable productivity from last year s class and outlining what s ahead for them in Year 2.
Set: Quarterback, running back, cornerback
As the title suggests, the focus of this article is on needs. We’ll discuss some depth moves as well but the Bengals have both Joe Burrow and Joe Mixon under contract until 2025 so they’re relatively “set” with starters. They may have released Gio Bernard but Trayveon Williams actually graded out surprisingly well in pass blocking (which was Gio’s specialty) and they have him and Samaje Perine under cheap deals until 2023 so I don’t see them using any of their more valuable picks on backup QB or running back this year. They have bigger fish to fry at picks 5, 38, and 69 at least.

The Cleveland Browns unexpectedly released defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson. Not because of his contract, which most would agree was too high, but because he was a reliable, professional defensive tackle and they are reasonably thin at that position. Given the way the way the Browns view defense, they are always looking at maximizing their strengths by minimizing their investment elsewhere and that might be their approach on the defensive line.
The Browns are thin at defensive tackle. They have three Sunday capable defensive tackles on their roster between Andrew Billiings, coming off of his opt out year, Malik Jackson, who was signed this offseason and Jordan Elliott, the lone player who contributed on the team last year as a third round rookie.
