Shell announces Osprey Charging partnership Print 7th May 2021 Shell announced today (March 7) that Osprey Charging will be its preferred partner for putting electric vehicle (EV) charging points on UK franchised forecourts. The first charger has already been installed at Hovefield Service Station in Essex. The announcement reflects the sharp increase in EV registrations in the UK, with Shell planning to double its 100 charge points on UK forecourts from 100 to 200 by the end of 2021. It aims to increase this to 5000 by 2025. Bernie Williamson, Shell UK general manager, said: “For electric vehicle use to grow more rapidly, drivers need to feel confident that there are convenient and reliable means of recharging their vehicles when they are travelling.”

The installation is part of a partnership between the two companies in support of Shell s goal of developing an EV charging network for Shell dealer sites across England, Scotland and Wales. Under the deal, Osprey will fund, install, and operate high-powered 175kW Tritium chargers under a lease arrangement, with all units operated under the Shell Recharge brand.

Reporter, Current± Osprey is to fully fund, install and operate 175kW Tritium chargers under the Shell Recharge brand as part of a new deal between the two companies. Having been chosen as Shell’s preferred partner for installing electric vehicle (EV) charging at all of its UK franchised forecourt sites, Osprey has now installed the first of these 175kW chargers at Shell Hovefield. While the installations are fully financed by Osprey, the profits are shared with owners, creating a new risk-free revenue stream according to the company. Shell Recharge - which was launched in 2017 - is a subscription-free, on-forecourt EV charging service offering chargepoints with a range of charging capacity between 50kW and 175kW. There are now 100 EV chargepoints available at Shell forecourts in the UK.
