It may be April 19 however winter isn t letting go just yet. According to the National Weather Service office in North Platte, there will be accumulating snow in northwestern Nebraska and southwestern Nebraska. Custer County and areas to the immediate north and east may see less than an inch of accumulation. NWS forecasts snow across northern Nebraska today (Monday 04/19/21) that will spread south and increase in intensity across southwestern Nebraska this afternoon and evening. The snow across the northern part of the state should decrease this morning. The snow this afternoon and evening in the southwest should last about six hours, mainly between 6 p.m. and midnight.

A LAKE WIND ADVISORY has been issued for Fort Peck Lake until tonight. The state started the day with cold temperatures and even colder wind chill values. A few locations in portions of southwest and northcentral Montana wind chill values were in the single digits and teens. A few locations around the state did wake up to light snow and slightly gusty wind. Thankfully, the snow showers that will continue to fall in northeast Montana is much needed. The drought monitor indicates portions of northeast Montana are current under extreme drought conditions. According to  Wyoming Department of Health data, 61or older Sweetwater County residents risk losing services through The Wyoming Home Services Program without a funding commitment for the program from the Wyoming Legislature in March’s session. Statewide, nearly 2,000 residents may lose their home services through the Wyoming Home Services Program without continued funding for the program. The Home Services program provides help with activities of daily living such as bathing and dressing for those who are in danger of requiring institutionalization. In Sweetwater County, Wyoming Home Services program services are delivered through Rock Springs Young At Heart. Debate on funding The Wyoming Home Services program and state budget will likely take place in The Wyoming Legislature the week of March 8.

According to Wyoming Department of Health data, 131 older Sheridan County residents risk losing services through The Wyoming Home Services Program without a funding commitment for the program from the Wyoming Legislature in March’s session.  According to a new release from AARP, statewide, nearly 2,000 residents may lose their home services through the Wyoming Home Services Program without continued funding for the program. The Home Services program provides help with activities of daily living such as bathing and dressing for those who are in danger of requiring institutionalization. In Sheridan County, Wyoming Home Services program services are delivered through the Senior Citizens Council at the Sheridan Senior Center.
