In a release, the Sheridan County Commission announced that on those days between the hours of 7am and 4pm, flaggers will be stopping traffic at the bottom of Red Grade Road to allow trucks hauling logs from a fuel mitigation project to descend the road safely.
After Thursday, trucks may not haul every day, but will periodically haul through the month of August as needed.
Announcements will be made and flaggers will be present when hauling is being done.
The county will notify the public if there are any changes to the timeline of this project.
An application for a subdivision permit for property owned by LJ Wright Ironworks & Design, Inc. has been approved by the Sheridan County Commission.
The 6.44-acre previously un-platted property is zoned C-1 Commercial, and the application proposes the creation of two lots about 650 feet south of the Sheridan City limits.
County Planner Mark Reid explained further.
According to discussions, the property is served by SAWS water and Southside Sewer, which made the DEQ water/septic study unnecessary, and therefore they requested the variance to not require the study.
Commissioner Lonnie Wright, as the owner of the property, recused himself from the vote, but the remainder of the commission voted to approve the variance and the subdivision application.
Sheridan County’s Commissioners have approved a preliminary plat for a subdivision within the Powder Horn Ranch II PUD.
The proposal is to build 73 new residential lots and eight out-lots in the currently un-platted 75.58-acre property.

Commissioner Lonnie Wright and Sheriff Allen Thompson, when asked by the commissioners how they felt about the proposed street name change, said in an emergency situation, it could be confusing, time-consuming, and potentially create a situation where an address could not be found quickly.
They said they were opposed the the idea.
The subdivision preliminary plat was approved, as was the first variance for the extension of rules and regulations governing the division of land, but the variance for the street name changes was not approved by the commission.

County Administrative Director Renee Obermueller explained more about the loan itself.
Library Director Cameron Duff said the loan will be paid back in five years through various funding sources, so the county won’t be liable for paying back any of the funds.
The commission voted to authorize the library to accept the $1.4 million
loan from the SLIB.
