SAINT PAUL, Minn. Small business is the backbone of this country, and Van Paper in St. Paul is a perfect example. They ve been serving the community and living the American dream for 105 years.
We received a tip about the company from a viewer, a member of the Van family.
Sarah Libby, nee Van, is part of the 105-year family lineage at Van Paper Company. She said the founder, her great-grandfather, Theodore Van, was a sales rep for a paper company in the early 1900s.

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Another section of North State Street will soon be repaved.
On Tuesday, the Jackson City Council approved bringing on W.E. Blain and Sons, Inc., to mill and overlay a section of the street running from Sheppard Road to Briarwood Drive.
The contract is for just under $1.1 million.
Once the project is finished, North State promises to offer a much smoother commute for drivers all the way from Briarwood Drive in North Jackson to Fortification Street in Belhaven.

St. Paul firefighters responding to a blaze at a homeless encampment Wednesday morning discovered one person injured and another dead among the debris the third death of a homeless person in the capital city this winter.
City officials have spent months grappling with a spike in unsheltered homelessness and, citing risks of uncontrolled fires and exposure, are racing to close some of the largest encampments and relocate people into a new network of temporary shelters.
St. Paul Deputy Mayor Jaime Tincher said officials believe 179 people are now sleeping outdoors, down from a high of 380 last fall a drop due, in part, to the city s work to move people into shelters, she said. The three deaths one at Wednesday s fire and two likely connected to exposure underscore the urgency of the ongoing work, Tincher said.

ST PAUL, Minn. A woman is dead and another person injured after a fire inside a homeless encampment Wednesday morning in St. Paul.
Police spokesman Steve Linders says squads were dispatched around 7:30 a.m. to the encampment on the north side of Shepard Road between Jackson and North Sibley Streets on reports of a fire with injuries.
Officers arrived on the scene along with engines from the St. Paul Fire Department and found a shelter ablaze. The flames were quickly put down and the body of a victim was discovered. Firefighters canvassed the area and found a second victim in a different tent suffering from burns. That person was taken to Regions Hospital.
