A longtime Poughkeepsie resident, Ostertag attended the Mets’ home opener every season for at least 55 years. He became such a faithful stalwart that, in 2018, the Mets invited him to throw out the first pitch before a game. Also an accomplished lawyer who served a brief stint as the New York State Bar Association president, Ostertag passed away on July 15 at the age of 90.
