Delaware State Police have identified the 88-year-old killed in a Tuesday evening crash on Shipley Road in Talleyville as Donald Knaack.
According to police, at about 6:15 p.m., Knaack was driving a Cadillac south on Shipley Road, toward Delwynn Drive, when he drifted over the double yellow lines.
A 63-year-old woman who was driving a Jeep on the other side of the road wasn t able to avoid hitting Knaack, and hit the front left side of the Cadillac. That caused both cars to spin out of control and stop on the road, police said.

Elderly man killed in head-on crash

An 88-year-old man from Wilmington died after a head-on crash in Talleyville on Tuesday night, according to Delaware State Police.
The crash occurred at 6:16 p.m. on Shipley Road near Delwynn Drive, police said. The man, driving a 1989 Cadillac DeVille, was traveling south on Shipley Road and for unknown reasons drifted across the double yellow lines partially into the north lanes, police said.
A 63-year-old Wilmington woman, driving a 2015 Jeep Cherokee in the opposite direction, couldn t avoid the Cadillac, police said. The cars crashed head-on and spun out of control, police said.
