Lima refinery chief backs decision for turnaround workers

LIMA Lima’s refinery continues to make a positive impact on the community, its local leader told the Lima Rotary Club on Monday.
Claudio Ingaramo, the vice president for U.S. refining for Cenovus Energy, is from Argentina and has been with the Lima refinery since 2013. He was appointed manager in 2018.
At the beginning of the year, Cenovus Energy purchased the Lima refinery from Husky Energy. The refinery sits on 450 acres of property in Shawnee Township, just south of the Lima city limits. The facility processes 175,000 barrels of oil per day into gasoline, jet fuel and diesel fuel. The refinery employs 450 workers and another 400 contractors.
Lima council supports union in dispute with Cenovus

LIMA Lima City Council approved a resolution Monday night as an official expression of support for the “Ohio Jobs for Ohio Workers” campaign.
The resolution was passed with no opposition from any council members. It is the first statement from council as a whole in support of the labor union advocating for the fall turnaround at the Cenovus Refinery to be locally sourced.
“To all of our union workers, no matter if it’s the refinery or the auto industry, we on the council stand with you,” said Councilman Jamie Dixon. “Thank you for your trades coming into our area and working and being productive citizens in our neighborhoods and our community.”
Fire damages Shawnee Township home
According to officials, the fire broke out at 6:02 p.m. Sunday at 4588 Meadowland Drive.
According to the Allen County Auditor’s office, the home is worth $297,500 and is owned by Suresh Rajasekaran and Sasikala Shanmugam.
No other information was available late Sunday.

Shawnee Trustee candidates running together

LIMA The race to become Shawnee Township Trustee is now underway. Two candidates, photographer Michael Ayers and former Lima City Council President Keith Cunningham both threw their names into the race on Friday afternoon, but with a twist. Both of them officially filed the paperwork to run a joint campaign.
The two filed a petition with the Allen County Board of Elections to campaign together. With two trustee positions coming open for Shawnee Township, the pair hopes to each win one.
