The gift was presented on behalf of the FirstEnergy Foundation as part of its annual holiday Gifts of the Season campaign. Winners across FirstEnergy s service areas were chosen secretly by the company s external affairs employees, who identified organizations in their local areas that do extraordinary work to strengthen the community and enhance the lives of vulnerable and underserved individuals.

Chad Andrew Hook

Chad Andrew Hook, 40, Sharpsville, went to Heaven to be with Jesus Thursday, December 17, 2020, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo.  He was born November 11, 1980, in Tipton, the son of Jimmy & Susan (Sallee) Hook.  On April 3, 2004, at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Kokomo, he married Jamie Grimme who survives. Chad was a 2000 graduate of Tipton High School.  He was currently employed with IMMI in Westfield, Indiana as an operations manager for the last 20 years.  He loved going on vacations with his family.  Chad was a member of Abundant Life Church and loved his family and the Lord.  He was a passionate sports fan, an avid LSU fan, fisherman and enjoyed going to his children’s sporting events.  Chad will be remembered for his heart of gold.

As reports of undelivered packages pile up, Postal Service says volume is greater than ever

Dec 18, 2020 / 11:08 PM EST INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) Problems with packages in the mail are popping up across Indiana, and the Postal Service said it’s trying to keep up, but the volume of packages is larger than ever before. News 8 has received dozens of reports of shipped orders only showing “in transit” when tracked. People told News 8 that not only is it impacting holiday gifts, but it’s also caused business owners to lose money. Gregory Jones, president of the Indianapolis area Local 130 Postal Workers Union, said during the holiday season that post offices would see upwards of 500,000 pieces of mail on the busiest day. Now, that number is being reached and exceeded nearly every day.

Staff report Performers from Youngstown Playhouse are among five area theater groups participating in an online Christmas celebration that debuts Friday. The Community Foundation of Western Pennsylvania & Eastern Ohio is partnering with the Playhouse, New Castle Playhouse, Area Community Theatre of Sharpsville, Red Barn Players and Greenville Area Community Theatre on the events. Viewers will be able to make donations to their favorite theater, and those donations will be doubled through the support of matching sponsors.
