UAE: 50% off govt fees for some Sharjah projects Wam/Sharjah Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi chairs the Sharjah Executive Council meeting. The reprieve is applicable for two years. Projects supported by the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Foundation (Ruwad) will be exempted from half of government agency fees for two more years, it was announced on Tuesday. Speedy intervention by Sharjah Police, Civil Defence prevents disaster as truck catches fire

Sharjah: Speedy intervention by the specialised teams of Sharjah Police General Command and Civil Defence helped prevent a truck from being completely burned on Shaikh Mohammad bin Zayed Road towards Dubai amid dense fog in the early hours of Tuesday. There were no reports of any injuries. Major Abdullah Al Mandhari, Head of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Sharjah Police, said at 4.40am, the Central Operations Room of the General Command received a report about a large truck in flames on Shaikh Mohammad bin Zayed Road in the direction to Dubai. Upon receiving the report, traffic patrols, Civil Defence and National Ambulance Service rushed to the spot. Traffic in the area was regulated immediately to prevent a major congestion. The dense fog at the time of the incident made rescue operations quite challenging. The fire had struck the front of the truck and the vehicle was moved from the road, even as personnel from the National Ambulance team attended to the truck driver.

Sharjah Police tell students how to deal with social media trolls, blackmail

Sharjah: The Sharjah Police General Command, represented by the Community Police Department, in cooperation with the Sharjah Special Education Authority, is going all out to educate students about electronic crimes. In a virtual awareness workshop under the title “Electronic Crimes”, through the Smart Academy platform, it sought to raise awareness among students and the public about cybercrime, the dangers resulting from it, and how to deal with trolls and blackmailers. A troll is often equated with online or social media harassment. A number of students from private schools affiliated to the Sharjah Private Education Authority took part in the workshop.

Sharjah Police introduces smart devices to enhance K9 dogs' performance

Sharjah: The Security Inspection Section (k9) at the Ports and Airports Police Department of the Sharjah Police General Command has launched a smart device to detect the activity of K9 dogs, and the impact of this on their security performance. The device helps to transmit health information about the animals and the performance of their organs to the devices. This data will be transferred to the tablets and smartphones of the veterinary unit and the trainers, in order to facilitate the transfer of the readings instead of bringing them to the clinic to conduct traditional check ups such as their weight, activity, and other health information.

Sharjah Police to strengthen security at New Year celebration venues

Sharjah: Sharjah Police have drawn up elaborate plans to ensure fool-proof security for New Year’s Eve and New Year celebrations at multiple venues across the emirate and ensure a smooth flow of traffic in the city and also in the eastern and central parts of the emirate. Police deployment will be beefed up at various celebration venues, including the fireworks display at Al Majaz waterfront and the musical event at Khor Fakkan Amphitheatre.
