His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah inaugurated the 12th edition of the Sharjah Children s Reading Festival (SCRF) on Wednesday.
Organised by Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), and themed ‘For Your Imagination’, the 12th edition of the region’s largest festival of its kind, runs until May 29 at Sharjah Expo Centre.
The 11-day festival open to visitors from 4:00pm – 10:00pm, excluding Saturdays from 10:00am – 8:00pm, will host the 9th edition of the Sharjah Children s Book Illustration Exhibition, and in-person and online literary discussions by 32 participating authors from 15 countries.

The Ramadan Nights 2021, which recently concluded, has attracted more than 50,000 visitors and more than 300 exhibitors, who displayed over 1,000 brands with exclusive discounts on a wide range of products.
Organised by the Expo Centre Sharjah with the support of the Sharjah Chamber, the exhibition ran from April 22 to May 8 as part of the 31st Sharjah Ramadan Festival, and was grand success that contributed to revitalising the emirate s retail sector after achieving high sales that went beyond the exhibitors expectations. Ramadan Nights 2021 has further secured its position as one of the most important shopping destinations across the UAE. The 12th edition of the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival will launch this year under the theme For Your Imagination between 19 and 29 May. The 11-day festival will be held at the Sharjah Expo Center, with more than 16 participating foreign writers and novelists, who will attend the event in person, while others will participate virtually.
Notable guests who will attend the festival include New York Times best-seller Colombian writer and illustrator Claudia Reuda. American author and illustrator Matt Lamothe will also attend in person, so will his American compatriot, Ambika Anand Prokop, author of Greenfeet Guides. The award-winning I’m The Biggest Thing In The Ocean author Kevin Sherry is among the attendees as well.
