The traffic police issued a diversion plan ahead of Pakistan Super League VI matches - scheduled to take place from February 20 to March 7 in Karachi. However, on Monday night, the relevant authorities went ahead with closing roads, causing inconvenience to citizens.
According to a notification issued by the traffic police, the road connecting Liaquatabad to Hassan Square flyover and the stretch of Sir Shah Muhammad Sulaiman Road between the turning nearby the Expo Centre and the National Stadium will be closed for traffic and commuters will have to take a detour to University Road to reach their destinations.

A flag march was taken out in Karachi on Saturday, with 50 fire tenders and two bowsers, which were procured by the federal government for the metropolis last month, leaving the Governor House to journey through the city and return.
The fleet of the fire tenders and bowsers passed through Sharae Faisal, Karsaz Road, Hassan Square, Ghareebad, Liaquatabad and Nazimabad, and retraced the route to return to the Governor House.

The Sharae Faisal police registered on Saturday a case for the alleged clash preceding a fire in 11 shanties in a vacant plot in Gulistan-e-Johar.
The case has been registered on behalf of a citizen, Shahzad, who told the police that his employers had evicted the residents of the shanties after giving them money. He alleged after a gap of few days, eight to 10 people from the nearby Gabol Goth stormed the plot and attacked three security guards, Addo, Kamal Din and Sultan. According to Shahzad, the attackers were carrying sticks, clubs and weapons and one or two among them even resorted to firing arms into the air. However, when people gathered around the plot, said Shahzad, the attackers set the shanties on fire and fled.
A petition has been filed in the Sindh High Court challenging the decision of the authorities to block main roads for the security of the ongoing Pakistan vs South Africa Test match being played in Karachi. The Sindh High Court has issued notices to the chief secretary and home secretary. They have been asked to submit their replies by February 4. The petition, which has been filed by Pasban-e-Pakistan, said the commuters have been facing a lot of problems as Sharae Faisal remains blocked from 8am to 6pm. The traffic police issued a revised traffic plan on Saturday night for the test cricket matches between Pakistan and South Africa that are to be held at the National Stadium from January 26 and continue till January 30.
According to a traffic police spokesperson, in light of the concerns raised by citizens, three roads leading to the National Stadium Flyover and signal - Karsaz Road, Dalmia Road and the road leading up to the stadium from New Town - that were closed earlier will be allowed to remain partially open for traffic. Public transport and heavy vehicles will still be barred from these routes.
