Man found dead in NW Portland; 1 detained

A man was found dead Saturday in Portland’s Old Town Chinatown neighborhood, and police are investigating his death as a homicide.
Portland police have not released information about the circumstances of the man’s death. Officers found him dead after responding to a death investigation call at a Northwest Second Avenue apartment at 1:15 p.m.
An early investigation suggested his death was a homicide, police said.
One person has been detained, according to police. Their connection to the man’s death was not immediately clear.

Fatal shooting surge continues Monday in Cully neighborhood
One person was killed and another wounded in a late night Cully neighborhood shooting.
The surge in shootings that began last year continued late Monday with one person killed and another wounded in Northeast Portland.
The names of the victims were not immediately released. No suspect information was available, either.
Police responded to nearly 170 shooting calls in the first two months of 2021, compared to just 88 last January and February. Last Saturday night, two people were shot and killed in a bar on Southeast McLaughlin Boulevard. They are identified as Williams Peters, 39, of Portland, and Adam David-Lawrence Arrambide, 36, of La Pine.
