The total number of EHC plans reached 430,700 in January, a 10% rise compared with 2020 and the 10th successive year of increases in special needs plans or statements. Just over 30% of the plans were for children with autism as their primary need.
âMany of the schools and families participating in the research had experienced long wait times and high levels of bureaucracy in the education, health and care plan process,â Ofsted said.
âIn some instances, families were commissioning or paying for additional services themselves. This suggests that the playing field is not level for pupils from poorer backgrounds.â

Ontario proposing overhaul of skilled trades apprenticeship system
New proposed legislation would make skilled trades training more efficient and accessible. May 10, 2021 Canadian Plastics
If passed, Skilled Trades Ontario would replace the Ontario College of Trades (OCOT).
Under the proposed legislation, Skilled Trades Ontario would become the province’s industry-informed training authority to lead the promotion, research and development of the latest apprenticeship training and curriculum standards.
It would also provide a one-window experience for client-facing services including apprentice registration, issuance of certificates and renewals, and conduct equivalency assessments all in one place with many services offered digitally.
