DOTD addresses traffic concerns around Amazon sorting facility

CARENCRO â The City of Carencro is working to address concerns that come with major development. The new Amazon sorting facility will bring with it 1,400 jobs, but some also worry it will be a prime location for traffic issues.
Tuesday night, DOTD held a meeting to address those concerns.
Drivers that spoke during the meeting say it s the intersection at Hector Connoly Road off of I-49 that concerns them the most. Many say during rush hour, they become gridlocked. You have the problem of people going across four lanes of traffic, and people trying to make a right hand turn, John Pere said.
Improvements are coming to three major intersections near the new Amazon facility in the Upper Lafayette/Carencro area.
Earlier today, State representative Vincent Pierre and Chairman of the Transportation Committee and Senator Gerald Boudreaux held a public hearing at the Carencro Community Center.
The stakeholder meeting was arranged to discuss traffic related to the massive new Amazon facility being constructed at the old Evangeline Downs property site.
Construction on the Amazon facility isn t even complete and traffic is already pretty wild in the area, so this was definitely a welcome discussion for stakeholders. Many of them shared their concerns during the public gathering.

Bondi Sands was launched in 2012 and it quickly became Australia’s most popular self tanning brand on the market. Peek believes that Bondi Sands filled a gap in the market by selling “a quality product at an accessible price point”. Co-founder Blair James had experience running a lucrative spray tanning company. Together with fellow co-founder and entrepreneur, Shaun Wilson, they pounced. The competition at the time was mainly premium products that weren’t accessible to most consumers, or worse, the products that were affordable but streaky and prone to leaving an ‘oompa loompa’ complexion.
Exactly one year after the coronavirus pandemic rained on Plymouth-Canton Schools successful $275 million bond passage parade, a huge step was made toward spending some of those bond dollars.
In its first in-person meeting in several weeks, the Plymouth Canton Board of Education voted 6-0 to approve bid package EL-1, the highlights of which are a four-classroom addition to Dodson Elementary School and the construction of secure entrances and new main offices to Field, Hulsing and Eriksson elementary schools.
Field, Hulsing and Eriksson affectionately nicknamed the triplets by architects and builders because of their identical layouts will also have space added that will allow their students to enjoy separate gymnasiums and cafeterias, which are currently shared by one room.
