RMT General Secretary Mick Lynch said:
“London Underground’s proposals to rip up an agreement that protects 3000 Tube drivers work life balance has caused uproar in the depots amongst drivers.
“This breach of trust by an out of touch management abolishes the part time jobs of workers – mainly women – who want them.
“This is the thanks that Tube drivers have been given for keeping the service running through the Covid pandemic.
“With some 200 jobs facing the axe we have been left with no other choice but to prepare the ground for industrial action.
London Underground, and Transport for London more generally, has been looking at ways to generate more cash and cut costs, after being bailed out by the UK Government several times during the pandemic.

Andy Burnham, Greater Manchester - Labour hold, vote share 67%
Burnham has promised to work with councils and housing associations to build 50,000 new affordable homes by 2037, including 30,000 zero carbon homes for social rent. He has said that a detailed plan will be set out for how, where and when the social rent homes will be built by the end of this year.

Union leaders took the shine off Sadiq Khan’s first day of his second term by threatening strikes on the London Underground.
Plans to axe night Tube drivers were opposed by the RMT union, putting staff on a collision course with the capital s mayor, who is also chairman of Transport for London.
Mr Khan pledged to “bring London together” as he was sworn in on Monday at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre on the South Bank.
