Police containment captures four suspects in Redondo Beach shooting death

An all-night search involving 12 police departments, helicopters, and drones ended Sunday morning with four suspects being apprehended for their possible connection to a fatal shooting that occurred around 8 p.m. Saturday in South Redondo Beach.
The victim, whose identity has yet to be confirmed, died of multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso. Officers arrived at the scene after receiving calls about gunshots on the 600 block of North Juanita. The suspects had fled in a vehicle, heading south on Prospect Avenue, then east into the neighborhood between Faye Lane and Susanna Avenue. They then abandoned the vehicle and continued to flee on foot.

The shooting was reported about 8 p.m. in the 600 block of North Juanita Avenue, according to Redondo Beach police Lt. Shawn Freeman.
Officers found the victim, believed to be a man in his 30s, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff s Department.
The officers also located the suspects leaving in a vehicle, which sped off and was later abandoned, Freeman said.

Police set up a containment area to search for the attackers, who were believed to be armed and dangerous. The perimeter was on Prospect Avenue between Torrance Boulevard and Camino Real in South Redondo Beach and West Torrance, police said.
Residents in the area were asked to stay inside their homes, he said.
One person was later taken into custody and the search continued for another assailant, according to Redondo Beach City Councilmember Nils Nehrenheim.
