PFUJ takes exception to FIA notice to senior journalist

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Federal Union of Journalist (PFUJ) has taken serious notice of issuance of attendance notice under section 160 of CRPC by anti-terrorist wing of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). The section is a punishable if notice remains noncompliant.
In a press statement on Saturday, PFUJ President Shahzada Zulfiqar and Secretary General Nasir Zaidi condemned the behaviour of FIA officials who even ignored seniority of a journalist apart from his right of maintaining confidentiality of source of information related to former judge of accountability court late Arshad Malik.
âWe want immediate withdrawal of notice by anti-terrorist wing of FIA and demand respect for journalistsâ right to maintain secrecy of his source of information,â the journalistsâ leaders said.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Federal Union of Journalist (PFUJ) has given countrywide protest call tomorrow (Monday) against the adoption of “Punjab Assembly Privilege Bill 2021” to punish journalists and media workers in Punjab, says a press release. Decision was announced by President PFUJ Shahzada Zulfiqar and Secretary General Nasir Zaidi in a statement in which they asked all the UJs across the country to arrange protest gatherings and rallies against brutal piece of law which was adopted with consensus by all the political parties in Punjab Assembly which was tabled by PPP MPA Makhdoom Usman as private members Bill. Apart from protest rallies, black flags would be fluttered at all the press clubs in the country, the statement said.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalist (PFUJ) has given a call for countrywide protest on Monday (tomorrow) against the adoption of the Punjab Assembly Privilege Bill 2021 which envisages award of punishment to journalists over publication of reports about the proceedings of the assembly and its committees.
The call was given by PFUJ president Shahzada Zulfiqar and secretary general Nasir Zaidi through a statement in which they asked all union of journalists (UJs) to organise rallies and hoist black flags at press clubs to protest against the “brutal” piece of law.
