Oldendorff Carriers has signed a joint development project with Anemoi Marine Technologies, Lloyd’s Register and Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI) to develop a wind-assisted propulsion solution for dry bulk carriers.
The project is being announced as the shipping industry faces growing pressure to decarbonize and come up with energy-efficient solutions and technologies.

German shipowner Oldendorff Carriers (OC) said it has signed onto a project to develop and trial a fuel-saving wind-assisted propulsion solution for bulk carriers that will help to reduce vessels carbon emissions.
The joint development project (JDP), which also involves Anemoi Marine Technologies, Lloyd’s Register (LR) and Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI), is scheduled for completion in 2022 and aims to produce commercial-ready applications across the industry in the short-term.
