Mortal Kombat movie takes the mythology of the games it is based on very seriously. To that end, the film features many fan-favorite fighters from the games. The character of the ninja Rain was initially rumored to be in the film. But that rumor turned out to be only sort of true. In an interview with ComicBook.com, the writer of
Mortal Kombat, Greg Russo, explained that the initial script for the film that he received did include Rain, but he decided to take out the character since he felt the script did not do him justice.

Mortal Kombat has been released to the masses, and while I don t expect it ll win Best Picture in the future, the movie has its bright spots. The violence is on point, there s a ton of callbacks to the video game franchise, and visually speaking, the film is stunning.
