Staff stationed, ready at Malawati Stadium, now a Covid-19 Assessment Centre

PETALING JAYA: About 80 staff members from the Selangor Health Department are stationed at the Malawati Stadium in Shah Alam, which began operating as a Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) for the Petaling district on Monday (Feb 8). State Health director Datuk Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman told StarMetro that other personnel on the premises included police and local government agencies who will assist in carrying out the CAC operations. “The stadium and everyone at the area have been sanitised as usual by our staff according to procedure with the help of the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), ” he said. It was announced that at the CAC, Covid-19 patients will be assessed before they are sent to hospital, Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centre in Serdang or told to undergo quarantine at home.

MBSA explains Do not feed animals campaign

MBSA explains ‘Do not feed animals’ campaign PETALING JAYA: While residents are up in arms over a Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) banner ( pix) discouraging people from feeding wildlife and strays, environmental experts agree with the move. Some residents called MBSA’s decision irrational. Soon after, the council released a statement on its official Facebook page stating that the banner was merely to educate the public to refrain from feeding strays as this had inadvertently increased the stray population in the area. “MBSA has received a total of 1,840 complaints regarding stray dogs in 2020. These complaints were of strays causing disturbance to the public, and if this is not curbed, there will be a further increase in the number of stray dogs,” MBSA said.

Apex Equity selling land formerly planned for RM86 5mil project

(Apex), which last week announced the disposal of four parcels of freehold land in Shah Alam for RM37 million, had initially planned a project with an estimated gross development value of RM86.5 million on the land. The project was to involve the development of 61 units of shoplots, the company said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today to provide additional information on the proposed disposal. The building plan is, however, still pending the Shah Alam City Council’s (MBSA) approval. Most of the 2.39-hectare land is currently vacant except for a small plot which is currently let out to MBSA.
