CASTRIES, St Lucia - Phase, structured and/or staggered by the reporting methods of the Ministry of Health (MOH) and burdened with an irresponsible poverty-stricken government of falsehoods and maladministration, the results are continuous COVID-19 cases diagnosed in the country; meantime Martinique physicians and medical supplies to assist Saint Lucia with the management of COVID-19 cases. Late Friday, February 19, 2021, the MOH confirmed 240 new cases of COVID-19, the total number of COVID-19 cases to date is 2860. Inclusive of three COVID-19 related deaths. This brings the total number of deaths in the country to date to 28. The reported cases are from a batch of 663 tests that were conducted on samples that were taken over the period February 1 to February 16, 2021.

SAINT LUCIA’S fight against the coronavirus took a rather promising turn on Wednesday when government rolled out its first batch of 3000 vaccines by inoculating government ministers, nurses, doctors, fire fighters and others said to be in the front lines of the fight against the virus.
The inoculation process is set for the long term as more vaccines are said to be enroute to Saint Lucia as explained by Prime Minister Allen Chastanet and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Sharon Belmar-George who both received jabs the day of the roll out.

Former immunization manager, Nurse Julietta Cassius, became Saint Lucia’s first citizen to be vaccinated.
She encouraged citizens to get vaccinated when their number is called especially those who have already tested positive for the virus. “Even with natural immunity it is still not full immunity so regardless of one having the virus it is still important to receive the vaccine.”
Prime Minister Allen Chastanet, his wife, Minister of Health Mary Isaac and CMO Dr. Sharon Belmar-George, former CMO Dr. Stephen King who opined that the vaccine in his view is our only way out, were among the frontliners receiving their first jab.
