GSMA announces awards for three startups out of 597 applications, received from 44 cities for Rs146m grant
Federal Minister Amin Ul Haque distributing certificate among winner at GSMA Startups Appreciation ceremony in Islamabad.
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information Technology Syed Aminul Haq has said that the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom is fully committed to promote entrepreneurship and innovation in Pakistan.
He appreciated efforts of the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA), terming that revolutionary changes in the field of telecommunication in Pakistan were now being recognized all over the world.
Addressing the certificate distribution ceremony of GSMA Innovation Fund for Mobile Internet Adoption and Digital Inclusion winner, he said reforms in the telecommunication sector in Pakistan and the facilities provided to mobile operators have paved way for investment in mobile networking.
The government transferred finance secretary Kamran Afzal, two weeks before presentation of the next budget due to differences over administrative matters.

ISLAMABAD: In a surprise move and almost two weeks before the announcement of the budget, the federal government removed Finance Secretary Kamran Ali Afzal and posted him the secretary of the Ministry of Industries and Production, local media reported.
According to a notification issued by the Establishment Division, Kamran Ali Afzal, a BS-22 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) was transferred from the post of finance secretary on Thursday and was posted as the secretary of the Ministry of Industries and Production. According to another notification, “Yusuf Khan, a BS-21 officer of the PAS, presently posted as secretary Benazir Income Support Programme, is transferred and posted as additional secretary (in charge), finance division, with immediate effect and until further orders.”
