Alexis Karteron

Professor Karteron is the Director of the Rutgers Constitutional Rights Clinic. Prior to joining Rutgers in September 2016, Professor Karteron was a senior attorney at the New York Civil Liberties Union. At the NYCLU, she litigated complex constitutional cases involving police reform, the school-to-prison pipeline, the First Amendment, and voting rights. While at the NYCLU, Karteron served as lead counsel in one of three cases challenging the NYPD’s stop-and-frisk practices. Prior to joining the NYCLU, Karteron served as White House Associate Staff Secretary from 2009 to 2010. From 2007 to 2009, she was an assistant counsel at the NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund, where she litigated voting rights cases in the federal courts, including the Supreme Court.

Driving the night were mainly artworks executed by Western artists, including all top three lots that each crossed the HK$100m (US$12.9m) mark: Clyfford Still’s abstract painting PH-568, Gerhard Richter’s 1985 oil on canvas Schwefel (Sulphur), and Roy Lichtenstein’s Reflections on Thud!.    PH-568 at HK$108m   With only one work withdrawn towards the end of the sale, all 45 lots found their new owners. The white-glove sale tallied nearly HK$952m (US$122.5m) and a sizable portion of that amount was sured up by the 14 lots guaranteed by irrevocable bids ahead of the sale, to ensure they would sell.

A federal judge in New York City has ruled against a former income partner with Katten Muchin Rosenman in the federal government’s bid to garnish his retirement accounts to help pay a $10.4 million restitution order. U.S. District Judge Kiyo Matsumoto of the Eastern District of New York ruled Friday that Evan Greebel couldn’t prevent the government’s garnishment following the lawyer’s conviction for conspiracy to commit wire and securities fraud in connection with his representation of jailed drug company CEO Martin Shkreli.
