North Yorkshire Schools Championships Athletic Event took place at York University Track on June 13. Sam Archer, U17 Intermediate boys 100m hurdles finished fifth in 21:1, Shannon Robinson, U17 Intermediate girls 800m, finished third in 2:19:7 (PB), Tom O Mahoney, U17 Intermediate boys 1500m finished third in 4:31:5, Charlie Stephenson, U20 Senior boys 3000m, finished second in 9:09:1. Two days later, Shannon Robinson continued her PB streak when she raced in the 1500m (U17) at the Trafford Grand Prix, finishing seventh in 4:45:53 (PB). A week later and the juniors were back out competing at Shildon for the second meet of the North East Youth Development League (NEDYL) on June 20. There was great team spirit amongst the talented athletes and coaches. On the track there were entries across many events. RISING OUT : Fruita for Equality organizes May community reading program

Join in the reading and the conversation for a community reading program in Fruita during May. Fruita for Equality is organizing a reading program featuring “Rising Out of Hatred: The Awakening of a Former White Nationalist” by Eli Saslow. A launch event for the program will be at 5 p.m. Friday, May 7, at Fruita Civic Center Park with an open community discussion about equality, race, diversity and inclusivity, according to a news release from Mesa County Libraries, which is one of the collaborators for the program. “Rising Out of Hatred” is about Derek Black, a former American white supremacist. The book “contains a powerful narrative about one’s capacity to change in their heart and mind. We are excited to share this narrative with our community and hope that it sparks a healthy discussion on community values,” said Shanachie Carroll, a member of the Fruita for Equality community and manager of the Fruita Branch library, in the news release.

Gladle, 25, Gouverneur, was charged Sunday, Jan. 31 at 11:15 p.m. for second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance – meth, and unlawful disposal of meth. Police said on Nov. 23, 2020 Gladle possessed approximately 3.6 ounces of methamphetamine and disposed a red and black backpack containing methamphetamine in the yard of the Family Dollar store in Gouverneur which contained an active one-pot methamphetamine lab. He was arrested, processed and virtually arraigned in front of Waddington Town Court Judge Shannon Robinson. Defendant was remanded to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility without bail. • Alisha L. Trickey, 21, Ogdensburg, was charged on Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 4:12 p.m. on an arrest warrant for fourth-degree grand larceny.
