A Corbin man was arrested early Thursday morning following and investigation into break-in attempts at three local convenience stores.
Corbin Police have charged Jerrad L. Gilbert, 19, with one count of third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief and second-degree criminal mischief in connection with the incidents at A to Z Mart on South Main Street, the Sunoco gas station on 18
th Street near Corbin High School, and the tobacco store at the intersection of South Main and South Kentucky Ave.
Corbin Police Lt. Coy Wilson, the department’s public affairs officer, said at approximately 1 a.m., police received reports of activated burglar alarms from A to Z Mart and Sunoco.

The MolinaCares Accord today announced financial support for Groundwork Ohio (“Groundwork”) designed to engage families in wellness programs and policies, with coordination for the grant provided by Molina Healthcare of Ohio, Inc. This support will provide Groundwork the needed resources to launch the Center for Family Voice. Through this new program, Groundwork will explore best practices across the state and nation that successfully engage families in public services delivery to inform state, local, and programmatic policy development.
Highway Patrol Timothy C. Nagy, 56, of Beloit, was cited for failure to control after he went off the left side of the road, striking two mail boxes, flower pot and gas meter on the property on Viola Blanchard while driving on Georgetown Road in Knox Township at 9:47 p.m. Dec. 17. An abandoned motor vehicle was found overturned off state Route 39 in Yellow Creek Township at 2:40 a.m. Wednesday. The vehicle was registered to a Newell, W.Va., resident, so the trooper called the sheriff’s office there and learned by Jeffrey D. Powers, 37, of Newell, who is believed to be the driver, had just reported it stolen. West Virginia authorities charged him, and the patrol is also expected to file charges.
