An operative of the banned militant group Ansar al Islam confessed to a Dhaka magistrate yesterday (Saturday) that he was planning to attack Jatiya Sangsad on May 5 as per instruction of its leader Ali Hasan Osama, known as Banglar Osama .
Metropolitan Magistrate Debbrata Biswas recorded the confessional statement of Md Al Sakib after Kazi Mizanur Rahman, an inspector of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit of DMP and also the investigation officer of the case, produced him at his chamber on completion of his seven-day remand in two phases.
Shop robbed in Bhasantek, guard found dead in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area

Police recovered the body of a security guard of shops in Dhaka s Bhasantek area this morning after thieves took away some goods from a shop.
The body of Sujon Mia, 40, was found in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area with injury in his head and a scarf tied up around his neck, police said.
Police suspected that unidentified thieves killed him as he tried to resist them from robbing the shops and dumped the body in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area. Primarily we came to know that Sujan tried to resist when a group of thieves went to steal from the shops in Bhasantek. At one stage, they hit him in the head and took him to their vehicle, Zahirul Islam, a sub-inspector of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station said.
President summons JS budget session on June 2

DHAKA, May 11, 2021 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid today issued an order summoning the 13th session (budget session) of the Eleventh Jatiya Sangsad on June 2, 2021.
“The budget session of the ongoing 13th session of the Eleventh Jatiya Sangsad will be held at 5 pm on June 2 at the Parliament Complex in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar here,’ said an official statement this afternoon.
The president, also the head of the state, convened the session exercising the power bestowed upon him as per Article 72 (1) of the Constitution, it said.
The upcoming budget session is scheduled to be held in a limited scale due to pandemic COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak like the previous one, the statement added.
