Retail Assist strengthens Vue Cinemas partnership with Multikino deal

Retail Assist strengthens Vue Cinemas partnership with Multikino deal Vue Cinemas has chosen Retail Assist to provide first line IT help desk support to its Multikino and Cinema 3D cinemas in Poland. Retail Assist has worked with Vue International since 2009, helping drive incidents down in its 90 UK locations. The former’s IT help desk will support Multikino’s 44 cinemas in Poland and one in Lithuania, 8am-12am, seven days a week. Mariusz Ciuchta, Director of IT at Multikino, says: “We needed a support partner who could support our in-country language requirements yet also have a great awareness of our operating model, systems, and the service that is required.”

Cinema stocks: a happy ending at the box office

© Getty Images With British cinemas preparing to reopen on 17 May, the outlook for the sector has never seemed so uncertain. Covid-19 lockdowns have left the biggest chains teetering on the edge of bankruptcy, forcing Cineworld and Odeon’s parent AMC Entertainment Holdings to raise capital and renegotiate their debts to ensure survival. What’s more, the film industry has undergone two key changes over the past year that appear to pose an existential threat to the business model of cinemas. Firstly, with theatres closed during lockdowns, audiences have shifted towards streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+.Secondly, many of the Hollywood studios have cut the traditional 90-day cinema “window”, which allows exhibitors a lengthy period to play films exclusively before they are released on home video.

Thrill of the silver screen returns to England as lockdown eases

Thrill of the silver screen returns to England as lockdown eases By Syndicated Content By Hanna Rantala LONDON (Reuters) – Londoner Sam Poch was anticipating the thrill of the big screen lighting up as he waited on Monday to enter a cinema on Leicester Square – a once routine experience that has not been possible for months because of COVID-19 restrictions. The 31-year-old content producer was among the first arriving to watch a film the old-fashioned way as cinemas in England reopened their doors as part of the latest stage in the government’s phased lockdown relaxation plan. “I missed it a lot. It’s just the whole experience of going out, sitting down in (front of) the big screen and just the feeling of being in a cinema – it’s just something I’ve missed for the past year,” Poch told Reuters before his screening.
