As the federal government was ramping up its response to the COVID-19 pandemic including purchasing millions of masks and protective gloves someone absconded from a Hamilton warehouse with more than two million surgical masks meant for a government personal protective equipment reserve.
The news, first reported by Blacklock’s, an Ottawa media outlet, comes as Canadians are entering the second year of the pandemic.

Last spring and early summer, with COVID cases spreading around the country, the government scrambled to secure masks, gloves and other PPE to supply health-care workers and businesses.

The International Association of Airport and Duty Free Stores (IAADFS) and Asociación Sudamericana de Tiendas Libres (ASUTIL) have confirmed the addition of Jane Ewing, Senior Vice President Sustainability, Walmart as a speaker for the upcoming virtual 2021 Summit of the Americas
(5-9 April 2021).
Ewing leads Walmartâs sustainability team and efforts, which prioritise people and the planet by aiming to source responsibly, sell sustainable products, restore natural resources and reduce waste and emissions.
These initiatives will be discussed in a special session at the Summit, which will address sustainability as a core business value in retail and travel retail.

The 2021 iteration of Summit of the Americas will take place online from 5-9 April as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Due to speak at the Knowledge Hub are: Martin Eurnekian, chief executive officer of Corporación América Airports; Roger Fordyce, Hudson CEO; Jackie McDonagh, ARI-North America general manager; Aurelia Barria, Motta Internacional senior vice president; Sammy Patel, Midway Partnership CEO and Vantage Airport Group chief commercial officer; Eric Trichot, PT&M managing director; and Jane Ewing, Walmart senior vice president.
