VAN WERT – The Van Wert Area Chamber of Commerce brings the heat of
the islands to downtown Van Wert at the Chamber Luau on Friday, June 11,
2021, at the Wassenberg Art Center from 5:30-10 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner served between 6 and 7 p.m.
Tickets
are $35 each and include a pulled pork meal from Deli on Main, a drink
ticket, and beach party fun. Bob’s Hot Dog truck will also be on-site
offering tropical dogs, a cookie, and chips for $5. Musical

Ohio Lt. Gov. Jon Husted has been traveling across the state this week visiting vocational schools to talk about In-Demand Jobs Week. One of his stops was at Vantage Career Center on Friday during an event that underscored the benefits of being prepared for the next step in life.
Signing Day at Vantage is when career-ready Vantage seniors sign up to work for local campanies often firms they had previously worked for, or interned at, while students.

Van Wert High School seniors will graduate during an in-person commencement ceremony scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, May 23, at Van Wert High School, and, during Wednesday night’s monthly meeting, the Board of Education approved the list of members of the Class of 2021.
Superintendent Mark Bagley said final arrangements are being made for next month’s graduation ceremony.

The board tackled a long list of personnel items during Wednesday’s meeting, including accepting the resignation of high school intervention specialist Ryan Parrish, then approving a three-year contract for him as high school administrative assistant. He’ll replace current administrative assistant Dave Froelich, who’s retiring at the end of the school year.
