BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - UAB is plans to start giving COVID-19 shots to youngsters 12 to 15 years old as soon as this Thursday. The CDC is expected to give final approval on Wednesday for the group to start getting the Pfizer vaccine
Once the CDC gives the final approval, UAB wants to begin giving out those shots.
Parents will have to approve of those shots first.
Vaccinations have slowed in Alabama as the demand for shots have slowed. Health leaders hope that will change with more young people being eligible for the Pfizer vaccine.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - Parents may be able to start allowing their 12 to 15 year olds to get the COVID-19 vaccine later this week. The FDA approved the vaccine for this group Monday.
The CDC is expected to follow later this week.
Alabama doctors said if the pandemic is going to be brought under control, younger patients have to get the vaccines. This latest group is a big step in that direction.
The CDC is expected to grant an emergency use authorization this week. Shots can start by the end of the week.
The Ramsay High School valedictorian is planning to attend Harvard University this fall, hopefully following Stevenson’s footsteps through Harvard Law School, then to civil rights law.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - The Alabama Clean Fuels Coalition (ACFC) said the state is moving in the right direction but could pick up the speed a bit more to stay competitive.
Several local businesses and advocacy groups, including the ACFC sent a letter to state lawmakers to encourage the state to invest more money into electric car infrastructure by installing more charging stations in the state.
