2022 Cadillac CT4-V and CT5-V Blackwing: Hold That EV Order
Talk about whiplash.
To be fair, development lead times are long â almost certainly longer than the time it took GM to come up with its ambitious EV goal. Furthermore, GMâs goal set a target for the dim, distant future, and thereâs still room for high-zoot engines on the marketplace â at least in the short term.
The mills here are a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 for the CT5-V Blackwing and a 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 for the CT4-V Blackwing.
Oh, hey #savethemanuals folks, you should take note â a six-speed manual with rev-matching and no-lift shifting is standard. If clutching is too much work for you, a 10-speed automatic with paddle-shifters is available.
2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and
CT5-V Blackwing achieve an artful balance between form and function. Descended from the brand’s racing-derived
V-Series legacy, the design elements of the new V-Series Blackwing sedans support and complement their track-capable performance, while advancing the V-Series’ motorsports-inspired heritage of styling and enhanced refinement.
“As the ultimate performance versions of our V-Series lineup, the prime directive for their designs was to maintain authenticity and integrity, while also raising the bar,” said
Andrew Smith, executive director, Global Cadillac Design. “Everything new and unique on these vehicles was only included if it served a functional purpose, while simultaneously creating a powerful signature look.”
Cadillac recently announced that it will officially unveil the 2022 CT4-V Blackwing or CT5-V Blackwing on February 1 and now it’s announced that it will start taking reservations on the same day.
Starting at 7:30 p.m. ET buyers can reserve one of the first 250 CT4-V Blackwings or 250 CT5-V Blackwings. Buyers who make reservations through the Reserve Yours page on Cadillac.com will receive the available
high-performance steering wheel commemorated with a unique serialized plate. The plate will be etched with a five-digit portion of the vehicle’s VIN sequence.
Buyers can reserve either sedan with a $1,000 refundable deposit.
The order books are about to open.
It s with curiosity and anticipation we wait for the official reveal of the limited production Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing models. The reveal of the new high-performance models has been confirmed for February 1st, 2021, after which Caddy will be taking deposits of $1,000 to secure a spot. But the first 500 will be particularly special, as the first 250 of each V-Series Blackwing model will come with a serialized plaque to denote their uniqueness. However, Cadillac says customers that don t snag one of the first 500 cars will be able to sign up to a waiting list to be notified as soon as more of the high performance sedans become available.
