UK – WORLDWIDE – TR Lady Shipping Ltd, a portfolio company of Tufton Investment Management, has signed an agreement with specialist in wind assisted propulsion for commercial vessels, Anemoi Marine Technologies, to supply and fit the bulk carrier
TR Lady with three large Rotor Sails and Anemoi s patented Rail Deployment System.
The Rail Deployment System allows the Rotor Sails to be moved across the deck to minimise impact on port operations.
TR Lady is a CS Marine designed 82,000dwt Kamsarmax bulker, built in 2017 by Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group, and managed by Tufton. This is yet another case of the Flettner technology receiving acceptance from a shipping group.
A 16-ton delivery truck that is fully electric and has a payload of 18,960 lbs (8,600 kg). We’re talking about Volta Zero, and it can be tested by Italian fleet operators starting June 7.

The French and Spanish events that have seen over 600 individual demonstrations of the Volta Zero in COVID-secure environments. The arrival in Italy also follows the company’s recently announced Europe-first principles within its Road-to-Zero Emissions strategy, with Volta Trucks set to launch four full-electric commercial vehicles and increase its projected sales volumes to over 27,000 by 2025.
Italian fleet operators and customers can experience the Volta Zero in Peschiera Borromeo, Milan, and the vehicle will be displayed in conjunction with Volta Trucks partner, DB Schenker. Volta Trucks has also launched its new Italian website – www.voltatrucks.com/it, where bookings can be made to attend a demonstration of the first purpose-built full-electric large commercial vehicle designed for city centre logistics.
Volta Trucks to offer four full-electric commercial vehicle models between 7.5t and 19t by 2025
Building upon the success of the Volta Zero a purpose-built full-electric 16-tonne commercial vehicle designed for inner-city last mile deliveries (earlier post) Volta Trucks plans to expand its product portfolio with three additional variants within the medium- to lower end of the heavy-duty class. With Volta Zero models available in the 7.5-tonne, 12-tonne, 16-tonne and 19-tonne weight categories, the company plans to offer a comprehensive range of full-electric commercial vehicles for the logistics industry.
Volta Trucks’ independent research suggests that the total global addressable market for full-electric trucks in the 7.5t – 19t category will exceed $100 billion by the end of 2025. The commercial vehicle manufacturer aims to build on the success of its Volta Zero fully-electric 16-tonne CV with three additional variants within the medium to lower end of the heavy duty class.
These will be in the 7.5-tonne, 12-tonne and 19-tonne weight categories.
The 16-tonne Volta Zero, which was launched in September and has a range of 95 to 125 miles, will be the first vehicle delivered, with Pilot Fleet trucks built by the end of 2021 with series production starting around 12 months later.
This vehicle will be followed by the 19- and 12-tonne variants in 2023.
