Three Cats Rescued From DeLand Home Fire

Dec 27, 2020 9:46 AM DeLand, FL -  The DeLand Fire Department is reporting the rescue of three cats from a structure fire on Saturday (December 26) afternoon. There were no injuries reported at the home located at 1402 Sharon Drive. Crews from the DeLand Fire Department, Volusia County Fire Rescue (VCFR) and Volusia County EMS responded about 1 p.m.  The fire was quickly extinguished by the crew from Squad Engine 81 while members of Engine 82 conducted a search of the structure. The cats were located within the home and taken outside. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. ); } return false;

Three Injured In DeLand House Fire

Dec 20, 2020 6:12 PM DeLand, FL - One person was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and two others were treated on scene for mnor injuries after a house fire in DeLand this morning (December 20).  Crews from the DeLand Fire Department, Orange City Fire Department and Volusia County Fire Rescue responded at 9:34 a.m. for a structure fire at 916 S. Florida Avenue. Battalion 80 arrived on scene to find heavy fire conditions throughout most of the home. Firefighters got the fire under control while searching for occupants. Everyone inside the home, four adults, three minors and eight dogs were able to exit the home before fire department personnel arrived on scene. The home and a majority of the contents were destroyed as a result of the fire. The cause was determined to be accidental in nature. The American Red Cross is working to help the victims.

DeLand house fire injures 3, leaves 7 people and 8 dogs homeless

Three people were injured in a fire Sunday that destroyed a house in DeLand, leaving seven people along with eight dogs homeless, according to a news release. Firefighters from the DeLand Fire Department, Orange City Fire Department and Volusia County Fire Rescue responded to the fire at 9:34 a.m. at 916 S. Florida Ave., according to Chris Graham, community information specialist for the city of DeLand. Upon arriving, firefighters found fire throughout most of the house. Firefighters worked to bring the fire under control while searching the home for anyone that might have been trapped, Graham wrote in a release.
