A man has been charged with the murder of a 19-year-old Chinese woman last year, in what was one of three alleged killings of international students during the pandemic.
Liqun Pan, a 19-year-old student from China, was found dead in her apartment in Sydney’s Wolli Creek on 28 June last year.
On Wednesday, New South Wales police charged a 21-year-old man with her murder, after a lengthy investigation.
On 27 June last year, police and emergency services found the man, believed to be Pan’s boyfriend, after he had fallen from the fourth floor of a unit block in Wolli Creek. The man had serious injuries and was taken to St George hospital in Kogarah for treatment.

A man will appear in court today charged with murder following the suspicious death of a woman at Wolli Creek last year.
About 3.30pm on Saturday 27 June 2020, emergency services were called to Chisolm Street after a man was found seriously injured on the footpath.
The 21-year-old man was seriously injured after falling from a unit block on nearby Brodie Sparks Drive. He was taken to St George Hospital, where he remains receiving treatment.
As part of inquiries, officers from St George Police Area Command attended a unit on Brodie Sparks Drive the following day (Sunday 28 June 2020), where they located the body of a woman.

He was placed in an induced coma with multiple fractures and head injuries. Witnesses have told us he fell from the fourth floor of a common area, so it was either misadventure or a suicide attempt, Detective Inspector Robert Alison said at the time.
