Sandy Liang Fall 2021 Range Looks To The Brighter Days Ahead

There is no denying it: throughout the global pandemic that had the entire world under siege since the beginning of last year, many designers and fashion houses decided to pare things way back and shift their focus towards functionality rather than looks. Sandy Liang, however, is not on the list of those designers. “That’s the fundamental thing they teach you in design school: you have to be aspirational, you have to design for your dream woman. And I always kind of scoffed at that,” Liang explains. “I think that was the right thing to do when I was younger, but now it’s really important to be optimistic and to design things that don’t make sense for right now.”

See 5 Newly Archived Raf Simons Runway Shows—And Shop His Archive Redux Reissue

Arrow The occasion for reflection comes as Simons reissues 100 of his most iconic pieces in a capsule collection called Raf Simons Archive Redux, which has been wildly buzzed about since the designer announced the project last summer. Again, the sheer mention of it pulls fashion lovers out of the woodwork—in the months I have been working on this project, somewhere in the vicinity of three-dozen different people have messaged me asking about it.  Arrow One of the first was David Casavant, the New York–based collector and archivist who perhaps single-handedly vaulted Simons’s past pieces into icon status by placing them on Kanye West, Rihanna, and other influential celebrities. “Remaking the original pieces shows how fashion is looked at as more of an art form now, where the original works are appreciated to such an extent to reissue them,” Casavant says. “I’m excited to see core grail pieces like the hoodies and parkas and how they’re rem

These Were the 10 Most-Viewed Brands on Vogue Runway in 2020

Chanel spring 2021Photographed by Acielle / Style du Monde In an ordinary year, Vogue Runway publishes two most-viewed brand stories, the first after the fall collections finish in March and the second after the spring season wraps in October. This was no ordinary year, and with the presentation of spring collections spread out from the beginning of September to just last week, we skipped our usual round-up of top performers. Instead, we’ve combined the two seasons together to create a 2020 master list. Last March, when we looked at the stats, I wrote that the top 10 doesn’t shift much season to season. That’s true today: The big names remain the big names, even in this year of change. But the list does tell a story.

Stüssy x Nike: A History of Iconic Sneaker Collaborations

Stüssy x Nike: A History of Iconic Sneaker Collaborations A History of Stüssy & Nike’s Most Iconic Sneaker Collabs Highsnobiety Stüssy is arguably the OG streetwear brand; Nike is the world’s biggest sportswear brand. Together, they’re an unstoppable force that has given us some of the most coveted sneaker releases of all time. In 2020 alone, Stüssy x Nike has given us three high-profile sneaker collaborations, all of which have gone on to sell out almost immediately. The first Stüssy x Nike collaboration came 20 years ago and has gone on to set the tone for how streetwear labels and sportswear brands work together. Stüssy x Nike was quite literally the birth of the sneaker collaboration when Nike’s Fraser Cooke and Stüssy’s Michael Kopelman decided to team up at the turn of the millennium.
