It may not be very pretty, but for five generations the one family has learnt to fish in the little red tinny .
Key points:
The boat was presumed lost in floodwaters only to be resurrected
The 60-year-old tinny is the envy of modern boat owners
Ian Townsend s grandfather took possession of the little runabout and now he is teaching his seven-year-old grandson how to fish in it.
The DA also proposes a croquet lawn, swimming pool, community hall, and a community garden.
A socio-economic analysis prepared by Michael Cullen Urbacity in 2019 and included with the DA said the establishment of “a chapter of the University of the Third Age” would be fostered by the Wollumbin Common Trust.
The report said sites with the “necessary extent of level surface” required for a caravan park were “difficult to find” in the hilly Murwillumbah region and the property is “unsuitable for a viable farming operation” as it is too small for a full time farm.
If approved, all profits from the development are to be returned to the Wollumbin Common Trust, with the sole beneficiary being Sathya Sai College Ltd.

Emergency services have responded to 44 significant visitor safety incidents at Wollumbin National Park since 2010. The Wollumbin (Mount Warning) summit track was closed in March 2020 due to COVID-19 concerns, but this was extended when safety concerns were brought to light. Rumours have this week been circulating about the removal of the chain from the top section of the summit track, along with questions about what this work means for the future of the trail. The track s extended closure was due to be reviewed in May 2021, and a National Parks and Wildlife Service spokeswoman has confirmed this is still the plan. An independent engineer s structural assessment conducted in August 2020 strongly recommended that the 100m chain section used by climbers to access the summit should be closed to visitors as the chain and posts were reaching the end of their design life and the risk of further accidents or fatalities as a result of catastrophic failure was very high, the spok
