WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) â A change to masking requirements is coming to a Wausau School District.
As several local school districts are removing masking requirements the issue came before the Wausau School Board. During the Boardâs update on the Project Relaunch plan, an unexpected motion was made by Jon Creisher to make masks optional in schools immediately.
Initial concerns were raised about the introduction of the motion by Board Treasurer Lance Trollop regarding the timing of the motion. Trollop explains that motions voted on at the regular board meeting usually go through a committee meeting first.

Metro Ride to Lift Bus Capacity Limits By Liz Holbrook
Apr 15, 2021 6:58 PM
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) Bus riders in Wausau won’t have to potentially wait at the bus stop for longer than a route anymore.
Thursday afternoon the Wausau Transit Commission narrowly voted to lift the bus capacity limits for Metro Ride buses. Before the meeting buses were only able to carry 15 riders at one time. Transit Director Greg Seubert requested the capacity limit be lifted as buses have been near or slightly above capacity limits most days, especially during the routes taking kids to and from school.
“And we are on occasion stranding passengers. This primarily happens to school and from school and this generally involves students. And this is not to say that we are inundated with large crowds. We are just somewhat exceeding our current capacity limits,”.

WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) â It was a busy night for the Wausau School Board considering several different topics up for potential action.
Monday night the Wausau School Board met for its regular biweekly meeting. At the meeting, the board considered a number of topics including two resolutions, and a recap of the April 6th referendum questions.
First, the board also passed a resolution in support of all LGBTQ+ students, staff, and families in the district along with Asian-Americans, Hmong, and other Pacific Islanders. Superintendent Dr. Keith Hilts says the board felt the need to bring the issue to light given the current climate surrounding all of those groups.

WAUSAU - In addition to the statewide superintendent of public instruction race, local residents will also get to vote for who will represent them on their school boards in next week s spring election on April 6.
Seven candidates are facing off for four seats on the board. Current Wausau School Board members Pat McKee and Tricia Zunker are seeking re-election. They will face challengers Karen Vandenberg, Kay Gruling, Jon Creisher, Nicolas Bisgrove and Cody Nikolai.
The Wausau Daily Herald sent each candidate a questionnaire and asked them to limit their responses to about 100 words. Their answers presented here have been edited slightly for length and clarity.
