Appeal for witnesses after suspected hit and run at Holystone

POLICE have launched an investigation after a man was injured in a suspected hit-and-run in North Tyneside. Officers from Northumbria Police are seeking a key witness after a pedestrian was hit by a car at around 10.45am on Wednesday. The accident took place on Whitley Road in Holystone. The victim, a male in his 30s, was reportedly hit by a van. Emergency services attended and the man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, but the vehicle involved had already left the scene. A 29-year-old man has since been arrested in connection with the incident, and remains in police custody.
