View Comments Thirteen planned city transportation projects  ranging from roads and bridges to sidewalks and traffic signals  take center stage in the proposed 2021-22 city budget submitted to the Clarksville City Council by Mayor Joe Pitts administration. This is a historic opportunity . to invest in Clarksville s future, Pitts told the council Tuesday afternoon in the opening moments of a special council session and budget workshop. It s a multi-tiered, ambitious Transportation 2020+ master plan that Pitts has introduced as the centerpiece of the new budget. Halbeath road closure due to level crossing works

THERE will be a temporary road closure this weekend to allow overnight maintenance work to be carried out at the level crossing at Halbeath. Kingseat Road, between Hillview Court and the Pleasance roundabout, will shut from 11pm on Saturday until 6am on Sunday morning. Network Rail will be carrying out work to improve the drainage at the level crossing and elsewhere on the section of track. A spokesperson said: “We understand the inconvenience this will cause to some residents but access to the crossing is vital for our engineers as they work to complete a range of maintenance projects on the line.”

(WTVF) — Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts has proposed a 20-cent property tax increase to fund road improvements, citing the city s transportation needs and rapid growth. In a release Wednesday, Pitts said the tax increase would fund “Tier 1 of the Transportation 2020 +” project and would generate $6.9 million per-year to invest in road improvements. City officials said Clarksville’s current property tax rate is $1.0296 per $100 of assessed value, which they said is much lower than several comparable cities, such as Chattanooga at $2.277, Knoxville at $2.4638 and Murfreesboro at $1.2894.
