School Crescent flooded on Sunday, along with neighbouring Moor View and Ternal Mead roads, after heavy rain. Ann Walker, 79, said her garden was flooded and she can smell sewage when her back door is open. She was so distressed about the flooding and frightened to leave her home in case the water spread, she had to cancel her weekly visit to see her husband Ron, who is in a care home. She said: I cannot tell you how sick I am with it. The drains are overflowing and it all floods into my garden. It is petrifying and I don t know what to do about it.
£200,000 awarded to Isle of Wight organisations providing mental health support
The funding will be used in innovative ways to help Islanders in need of mental health support
The Isle of Wight NHS Trust is pleased to announce it has awarded £193,456 grant funding towards community projects supporting people with their mental health on the Island.
This was made possible after a significant donation in February 2020, by the Richmond Fellowship, passing on funds from The Isle of Wight Association for Mental Health, a former Island charity.
This money was intended for the purpose of assisting people whose lives are affected by poor mental health and the Isle of Wight NHS Trust were keen to ensure that it was distributed in line with this aim.
