A phone call from White Ferns coach Bob Carter last week confirmed Green’s ascent to the international ranks. Green wasn’t required to bat in the 20-run loss on Sunday – a 50-over affair where 14-strong squads were selected – but made a useful contribution with the ball, taking 2-31 off six overs in England’s innings of 299/9. Two days later, the return was even better – 5-56 off 10 overs as the NZ XI won by 30 runs. Green said she had found the step up to international-level cricket easy to slot into with a number of familiar teammates in the New Zealand squad.
