Ssangyong UK is riding out a restructuring plan at its Korean supplier and is confident of attracting more fleet business on the other side of it. Simon Harris spoke with managing director Kevin Griffin.
Ssangyong is best known in the UK as a producer of capable four-wheel drive SUVs, with limited interest from a largely CO2-focused fleet sector.
Its line-up of three cars and a pick-up truck (Tivoli, Korando, Rexton and Musso), are heavily retail-focused, but they have proved capable enough for some business wins for fleets needing the capability of four-wheel drive.
I met the Ssangyong UK managing director Kevin Griffin via video link at a time when the company is patiently awaiting the outcome of a restructuring plan in Korea.
A SECTION of the A55 has been closed by Broughton, Flintshire, due to a collision. The incident has been reported to the Traffic Wales site, which says emergency services, including the Welsh Air Ambulance, have been deployed to the scene. As of 1.35pm, the A55 is closed westbound between Junction 36a (Broughton Shopping Park) and Junction 36 by Broughton. North Wales Police said: Please avoid the area until further notice and use alternative routes. The road will remain closed for some time. A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: We were called today (Thursday, March 4) at 12.19pm to reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on a slip road of the A55 at Broughton.

More than half a billion pounds was being invested in fossil fuels by Wales local authority pension funds at the end of 2019-20, new research shows.
But the campaign groups acknowledged there had been a reduction since 2017.
The body representing local authorities in Wales said they were committed to the decarbonisation agenda.
A spokesman for the Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA) said it encouraged the development of ethical investment principles by the Welsh pension funds that ultimately make decisions
And the Wales Pension Partnership said funds were working to reduce their exposure to fossil fuels.
