And of course, Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, for his leadership in adaptation and resilience. And I can tell you that as COP President this is a top priority indeed. THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) The world must take decisive action to build resilience to the devastating effects of climate change, U.S. climate envoy John Kerry told a global virtual summit Monday, pledging that President Joe Biden s new administration would play its role. In a video message to the Climate Adaptation Summit hosted by the Dutch government, Kerry said, “We’re proud to be back (in the Paris climate accord). We come back, I want you to know, with humility, for the absence of the last four years, and we ll do everything in our power to make up for it.”

Leaders set for online climate adaptation summit

World leaders are set to appear online on Monday at the first summit dedicated to making the planet more resilient to the effects of climate change. Leaders including French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson are expected to contribute by video link to the Climate Adaptation Summit, hosted by the Netherlands. The meeting, also featuring current UN chief Antonio Guterres and former.
